Ottermelon Old Character Designs

These are some old character designs for a short film animatic that I started on, but never finished called Ottermelon. Lately some artists I follow have been working hard and finishing some really cool big projects, and I feel bad I’ve never done anything like it. I suppose the size of it makes me want to run away to smaller things where the stakes and threat of failure aren’t so high, or to just wait “until I’m better.” It’s not exactly a good attitude to have though, because we’ll always see things we could improve upon. Plus, you can learn so much from big projects in the first place.

I really want to actually create this thing now, starting with redesigns of the characters. I want to see if I can make them less humanoid, more ottery, and more appealing. Once that’s done, then I’ll be back to boarding this thing, and hopefully finishing it this time.
