There is still plenty of time to enter something! The deadline isn't until January 18th, and there's four prizes up for grabs, including a wildcard prize that is going to be given to a random non-prize winning entry, so everyone has a chance to get something.

Well, it seems finally over my illness enough that I can start being productive again. I'm not lethargic anymore, my coughing is going away, and other symptoms have vanished.

I apologize for not having replied to notes, messages and things of that sort all month. I've had a difficult month with my health so that sort of thing was pushed aside. I know there's a contest entry I gotta reply to and grade yet, even though I think it was submitted last week.

Speaking of the contest, I've pushed the deadline to January 18th. The current deadline is less than a week away and I've only received 3 contest entries. (and considering there's four prizes at stake, that's no good. ) I can imagine people have been busy, since it's that time of year and all, so I'm not upset or anything.

I'll be working furiously on a commission for the next two days, so I apologize if I'm still inactive until after Christmas.

Just thought I'd share that today is my birthday. I'm nineteen years old now. It's not exactly a huge milestone like 18 is, but still, it's another year, and I'm a little more wise, mature, and skilled than I was last year. Here's hoping for a great year!

Hey guys, it's been a long time since I held a contest. The last time I did was two years ago at this time. I think it's about time for a new one for fun. Here's hoping it is a success!

The Contest

Deadline
The deadline for entries January 18th, 2010 at 11:59:59 CST. (I can extend this a bit further if anyone needs some extra time for any reason!)

Criteria
Draw my character, Temiree. That's all. (a bit self serving, I know. ) References are at the bottom.

Rules for Entries
1. Entries must be rated G to PG, and not contain anything fetishy regardless of rating. If you win a commission, this applies too.
2. Keep things happy and/or epic! Nothing in the realm of sadness please. I only draw Tem in those situations if I feel there's a reason for it, so it's a bit personal.
3. All visual art styles and mediums are allowed. Realism, cartoon, etc. Have fun with it!
3b. Entries don't have to be colored. They can just be sketches. Entries with coloring or shading will be eligible for an extra scoring category though.
4. You're allowed as many entries as you'd like.
5. Be creative! And have fun!
5b. Temiree lives in Redwall abbey, in Mossflower, so a setting related to that may get bonus points for accuracy.


Judging
Scoring will be done both when I first see the entry, and after the deadline. The two scores will be averaged together to give a final score. (this way early entries aren't at a disadvantage due to first impression) The score categories will be weighted appropriately. If there is a tie in score, I'll be asking friends to decide on their favorite. Score categories are as follows...

Accuracy - 25 (how accurate your depiction of Temiree is)
Anatomy - 20 (how well drawn the anatomy is)
Creativity - 20 (how original it is, and how much I like it)
Coloring and/or Shading - 15 (how well the coloring or shading is done)
Effort - 10 (self-explanatory)
Composition - 5 (how well composed the picture is)
Line quality - 5 (how much I like the line quality)

Overall - 10 (how I like it overall, from 1-10)

Total - /100


Prizes
First prize - a commission worth up to $60, free!
Second prize - a commission worth up to $30, free!
Third prize - a free sketch of your character! (worth $15)
Wild card - a free sketch given to a random, non-prize winning entrant. (so everyone has a chance to get something)

I'm planning on drawing up a more recent, proper reference for Temiree, but here is what I have at the moment. Left to right in order of most recently drawn. The left most one (the poster) has the best depiction of him in my gallery. There's just a lack of color.
