This was awkward for me to post, because I wasn't sure whether to post this, just the background or both. On one hand, it looks kind of cool how realistic Temiree looks. On another hand, he doesn't add a lot to the painting itself. Generic pose, generic smile. Again, do I post this, the background, both?
I decided to post this. It started as a landscape speedpaint last week that took me 90 minutes to do. It didn't take me very long and I was going to post it that night. However, I decided to take it a step further. Try rendering a character as realistically as I can with the background I've been given; so not only would I have to study the lighting and match it, it'd have to look realistic too.
The reason I'm posting this instead of the speedpaint itself, is because the character was a challenge in itself, and I'd like for everyone to see the results. I doubt this will get many favs like my other pictures since, admittedly, there isn't a lot "there" creativity wise. It's just a painting referenced from a photo with my character slapped on it. But I appreciate it on the technique it took to make it, and I'd like to share it for that reason.
I'll definitely have more interesting stuff up soon. I also hope all my practice with anatomy this month can be seen in this. I need to try practicing more with more animal-like bodies though. They're a lot harder than I thought, and I don't feel like posting my results yet.
I really like the colors and lighting, and both were defiantly needed. He looks like he is smiling because it's summer, and he helps to balance the image.
Yes, it's generic, but they still go well together and this is still a solid piece. Your lighting and textures are good, and Temiree adds a nice focal point to the foreground.
Anyway, this time I am doing a complete review and give you advice and tips if you want more realism in your future drawings (but you can decide not to make more realistic and leave like that, this are only tips ^^). There may be many mistakes in translation, I do not know. ^^'
The composition of the drawing Although it is classic, it is very successful. The design is beautiful because your character is well positioned in relation to landscape and there is no real space. The effects of perspective are fully respected.
The snout Your character is an otter, but the nose is that of a canine (a friend said to me that he's a wolf ^^"). However, the otter is closer weasels, skunks, ferrets and other than wolves. ^^ From an anatomical, a snout otter is that (without any adjustments anthropomorphic): [link] and [link] .
It also fails the whiskers, but I do not know if it's deliberate.
The precision The landscape is a speedpaint, but there is still sufficient precision to make it my new wallpaper. ^^ Contrariwise your character is not enough, then it is in the foreground, it is too flat. To remedy this, it should more detailed fur (if you do not really arrives, there are simple tutorials on the site ... you decide).
"yeah your right not much, but! there is alot in it in itself!" He says with a chuckle.

Well! I finished!
