Redwall Animation: Concept 1

Description

My first environment concept for the Redwall animation that's in the works. Nothing much has happened yet, but the animation is going to be based on Mossflower, and sort of a continuation of where Nelvana left off. Yeah, it's a huge project, but we're going one step at a time. =) If you're interested in helping out, head on over to ~Redwall-Animation.

What is this scene exactly? It's the very first scene Brian Jacques described in the book.

"Mossflower lay deep in the grip of midwinter beneath a sky of leaden gray that showed tinges of scarlet and orange on the horizon. A cold mantle of snow draped the landscape, covering the flatlands to the west. Snow was everywhere, filling ditches, drifting high against the hedgerows, making paths invisible, smoothing the contours of earth in its white embrace. The gaunt, leafless ceiling of Mossflower Wood was penetrated by constant snowfall, which carpeted the sprawling woodland floor, building canopies on evergreen shrubs and bushes. Winter had muted the earth, the muffled stillness was broken only by a traveller's paws."

When I have more time I'll do a version with more trees, since Jacques described a "leafless ceiling." This would be more like a break in the woods. Aside from that, I tried to get close to the style they used for backgrounds in the animation.

Credits to [link] for the tree brushes. Enjoy! =)
